Meet Randy
Who´s Randy? Well, he´s the guy with the least amount of problems in the whole world. He goes about most things with a remarkable laidback posture. He´s also into trading, and quite actively as well. Yet the whole math, analysis, risk awareness and similar things isn´t his cup of tea.
So, how does he engage into trading then? He follows his laidback lifestyle and simply relies on Lady Fortune.
Randy´s approach can be seen as slightly offensive to some, especially when he tells people how he actually trade.
He throw his dice every 3rd hour and let the dices dictate if he calls his broker and goes “let´s sell” or “let´s buy”.
That´s all he does. No more, no less. Truly random, no strategy, no structure, no plan.
Just dice.
Randy has been quite into $SPY this month.
Why he chose SPY is a mystery on it´s own. Possibly it could involve his beloved dices. We simply don´t know.
But what we do know is this:
He´s been rolling his dice every third hour. Buying or selling completely depending on what his dice says. Either long or short.
That´s it.
So far, Randy is up 7.41% in May. While the benchmark buy & hold is up 3.85%.
Not too shabby considering Randy´s random approach.
Did you beat Randy in May??
Annoying isn´t he…
The sole purpose of letting Randy show off his “skills” in trading, or lack thereof. Is to expose something real about randomness. And what random actually is capable of doing, even in a setting like trading.
Markets themselves express a degree of “noise” that random engagement actually can occasionally profit from. Without even looking or understanding markets.
Beating Randy consistently requires something Randy doesn’t have. That something is what Realytica aims to provide.
And in all honesty, the above random chain of “dice throws” Randy did, is one out many. If we let Randy trade SPY May a thousand times and the picture gets more honest.
